Unlike many coastal Maine towns, Kennebunk and Kennebunkport have year-round activities. The hustle and bustle of the peak summer tourist season gives way to the more relaxed late summer after Labor Day. October brings the vibrant colors of fall and “leaf peeping” is a favorite activity. Winter usually brings a blanket of snow. But don’t worry, we Mainers can handle the weather. Storms that bring the rest of the Eastern Seaboard to a standstill barely slow us down!
Since 1982, Kennebunk and Kennebunkport have hosted Christmas Prelude. Tree lighting ceremonies, craft fairs, lobster bakes, charity breakfasts, and caroling bring out the spirit of Christmas. Downtown merchants help you get a jump on your holiday shopping with some best bargains of the season. Visit the Christmas Prelude website to learn more. If you attend the Kennebunk Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, please stop by and see us. We’ll be handing out our homemade cookies.
Dress warm and celebrate winter. Kennebunk’s WinterFest is held the last Saturday of February. A variety of events are held all day long and all over town. Learn more at the Kennebunk Festivals Committee site.
Maine Restaurant Week
Academe and other area restaurants join together to celebrate Maine Restaurant Week in early March each year. We offer a specially priced three-course menu.
May Day Celebration
Memorial Day Parade
Kennebunk & Kennebunkport kick off “the season” with the annual Memorial Day Parade. Former President George H. W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush have been on hand to assist with the festivities for many years. This is a great time to visit the area. The weather is usually nice and the summer crowds have not yet arrived.
Held in early June each year, the Kennebunkport Festival (formerly the Kennebunkport Food & Wine Festival) is a celebration of Food, Wine & The Arts. The festival is a five-day event and takes place throughout the Kennebunks. In addition to being a great time and a lot of fun, the event raises money for charity. Learn more at the Kennebunkport Festival site.
Independence Day Fireworks
The Town of Kennebunk holds it’s annual Independence Day fireworks display on July 4th. Head down to Kennebunk Beach for the best viewing. You can also see the fireworks from many vantage points along the Kennebunk and Mousam Rivers. Be nice to a local; they’ll give you tips on the best viewing locations!
Old Home Week
Join us in a celebration of Kennebunk’s past, present and future at Kennebunk’s Old Home Week. Old Home Week typically coincides with the 4th of July holiday, so plan your visit early. Old Home Week at the Kennebunk Festivals Site.
Held each October, our Harvest Fest is a wonderful, small town celebration. Since it usually coincides with peak fall foliage, visitors have two great reasons to visit! Harvest Fest Schedule of Events.
Concerts in the Park
During the summer season, The Kennebunk Recreation Department holds weekly concerts in the park. Located along the banks of the Mousam River just one block from The Inn, concerts are held Wednesday evenings.
Shakespeare in the Park
MaineStage Shakespeare holds free performances in Lafayette Park, just two blocks from The Inn. Performances are held throughout the summer months. For details and a schedule of performances, please visit MaineStage Shakespeare.
Kennebunk Farmer’s Market
Each Saturday, from May through mid-November, the Kennebunk Farmer’s Market sets up shop next to The Inn.
