Chef Shanna Horner O’Hea, who along with her husband Brian, owns and runs the Kennebunk Inn and its restaurant Academe, took first place on the Food Network’s “Rewrapped.” Shanna bested her two competitors, Chef Philip Meoli and Chef James Larounis in the battle of Chef Boyaredee Ravioli. Rewrapped pits three chefs against one another in the Recreate Round, where the three contestants are given the task of recreating the well-known, classic food. One chef is eliminated and the remaining two move on to the Innovate Round, where they must impress the judges by using Chef Boyaredee Ravioli to create a completely new menu item.
Chef Shanna’s Spice Cake with Cashew Ginger Crumble and Raspberry Tomato Meat Sauce Coulis (really!) topped with Rum Cream was the judges favorite. Shanna will be donating her winnings, a year’s supply of Chef Boyardee Ravioli, courtesy of ConAgra, to the Good Shepherd Food Bank, which serves local Maine families in need.
It is great to get an opportunity to step from behind our restaurant line and compete against other chefs in a challenging food competition with the iconic brand Chef Boyardee. The host, Joey Fatone, made the filming so much fun because of his contagious energy & humor and it was great to be judged by Marc Summers with all of his culinary knowledge, Daniel Marple who knows the Chef Boyardee product inside and out, and Aron Sanchez who had been my former judge on “Chopped” and now I was able to show him what I could do with desserts. I feel very lucky to have a career in the food and hospitality industry right now – it just keeps adding more interest & fun to my life.”
